Good Samaritan Rescues Young Boy from Crash in St. Louis

Car Accident Rescue

A two-vehicle collision in South St. Louis is garnering widespread media attention after a Good Samaritan helped by pulling a young boy from one of the vehicles following the crash. The accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, near South Compton Avenue and Itaska Street. The boy was traveling with his grandparents in a car when it collided with an SUV carrying two occupants.

According to Fox 2 Now St. Louis, Shirley Powers, a resident of the neighborhood, woke up to the sounds of the crash and headed outside to render aid. The airbags in the vehicle had deployed, and she smelled gas when approaching the vehicle. Powers turned the vehicle off and pulled the child from the vehicle.

The child was understandably very shaken by the accident but was not seriously hurt. Emergency responders helped rescue his grandparents from the vehicle and transported them to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The two occupants of the SUV were not injured in the crash.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the crash or whether any citations have been issued to the drivers involved.
